West End show rocks for Pudsey

A West End musical which transforms the theatre into a bourbon bar serving alcohol to customers at their seats is raising money for Children in Need.

Rock of Ages, which is set in the 80s, stars 2005's X Factor winner Shayne Ward and presenter Justin Lee Collins.

A gala performance at the Shaftesbury Theatre on 16 November will be introduced by BBC London's Gaby Roslin, Tony Blackburn and Vanessa Feltz.

Proceeds will help disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.

'Fun and feisty'

The fundraising event comes two days before the BBC's main charity appeal on 18 November.

And it follows the success of last year's Jersey Boys musical, which raised more than £60,000 for Children in Need in one evening.

Gaby Roslin said: "This year can't be more different.

"Rock of Ages is going to be fun and feisty and we hope in the process to raise lots of money for charity."

Veteran broadcaster Tony Blackburn said the 1980s were full of fun and fun music.

"I can't think of a better way to raise a fantastic amount for Children in Need."

Rock of Ages is driven by a soundtrack of rock anthems and power ballads and tells the story of Drew, a boy from South Detroit, and small-town girl Sherrie, who fall in love as they dream of stardom in 1980s Los Angeles.

There are some "adult themes" in the show including strip club scenes and some swearing, so parental guidance has been advised.
